  • Jason Dzubow wins Petition for Review in the Fourth Circuit and makes new law
    On November 24, 2009, the Fourth Circuit granted a Petition for Review for a man from Yemen whose asylum case had been denied. In a published decision, the Court broadened the definition of persecution and remanded the case to the Board of Immigration Appeals to determine whether the man should be granted asylum.


  • Mensah gets over $250,000 for Florida client
    Mensah & Dzubow was retained as outside counsel for a travel firm in Orlando, Florida. The case was successfully litigated and judgment was enforced against the vendor. The client received over $250,000 in damages.


  • Asylum for a TV journalist from Afghanistan
    On November 4, 2009, the Asylum Office granted asylum to the journalist, who appears regularly on Afghan television. The Taliban had threatened to harm the journalist.

  • Jason Dzubow wins asylum case for Ethiopian political activist
    On October 26, 2009, the Immigration Judge granted political asylum to an Ethiopian political activist. The activist had lived and worked for six months in Dubai before she came to the United States.

  • Mensah participates in financial institution partnerships
    Mensah works with several financial institutions, including BB&T assisting their high net worth clients with wealth transfer instruments and providing estate administration services.

  • Ethiopian political activist wins Board of Immigration Appeals case
    On September 30, 2009, the BIA reversed the Immigration Judge’s decision finding that the political activist was not credible. The BIA found that the Judge’s decision was clearly erroneous.

  • Massive litigation against Bank of America and Wachovia Bank
    Mensah is currently in litigation with Bank of America and Wachovia Bank. Within the same litigation, Mensah has obtained settlements in excess of six figures from Raymond James Financial and from the State Department Federal Credit Union.

  • Jason Dzubow argues two cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
    On September 24 and 25, 2009, Jason Dzubow argued two cases before the federal appeals court. The cases involved important issues related to standards of evidence in asylum cases. One client is from Ethiopia; the other client is from Yemen.

  • Suntrust Bank claim settled by Mensah
    Mensah settled a case, brought by SunTrust Bank, against individual guarantor of loan. The settlement saved the client from suffering a six figure damages amount. Settlement was achieved within weeks of retention.

  • Jason Dzubow wins asylum for a Rwandan whose family was murdered in the 1994 genocide
    On September 17, 2009, the Immigration Judge granted an application for humanitarian asylum. When she was a young girl, the asylum applicant witnessed her family members’ murders in Rwanda. The Judge found that her past persecution was so severe as to warrant a grant of humanitarian asylum.

  • Professional Boxer and Political Activist Wins Asylum
    On September 14, 2009, the Immigration Judge granted asylum. The Judge found that government agents arrested and severely beat up the boxer after he engaged in anti-government political activities.

  • Moroccan Woman Wins Status Adjustment
    On June 29, 2009, the Immigration Judge granted adjustment of status to a Moroccan woman and she was granted her Green Card. Thus, after many years of delay, she was able to return to Morocco to visit her sick father.

  • Afghani TV celebrity Wins Asylum
    On June 15, 2009, the Asylum office granted asylum to a well-known television personality from Afghanistan. He had received threats from the Taliban because they disapproved of his TV show.

  • Jason Dzubow wins asylum for the son of a murdered government official from the Central African Republic
    On April 29, 2009, the Asylum Office granted asylum to the son of a top government official from the Central African Republic. The official had been poisoned by political rivals and his son feared returning to his country.

  • Jason Dzubow wins withholding of removal for a political activist from Nepal
    On April 23, 2009, the Immigration Judge granted withholding of removal to a political activist from Nepal.

  • International consultant may be in breach of contract
    Mensah is currently involved in multi-million dollar lawsuit against an international consultant for breach of contract and violation of intellectual property laws. The firm’s client is one of the most highly recognized specialists within his field and graduate of the prestigious Harvard University.

  • Top doc in D.C. negligent in multi-million dollar lawsuit
    Mensah recently tried a complex multi-million dollar medical malpractice claim against one of the top doctors in the District of Columbia. The firm received a negligence verdict against one of the medical professionals in this case.
